What is a domain name?
A domain name is your unique identity on the Internet. It allows your company, organization or family to establish an Internet presence, consisting of your personalized email addresses and your own web site address.
Domain names are composed of two sections - the descriptive name, and the domain suffix (e.g. .com, .net or .org, biz, .info).

Domain Names can be alpha-numeric with the exception of the dash [-] (which may not be at the beginning or end of the Domain Name).
The suffix ".com" is generally for commercially oriented ventures.
The suffix ".org" is generally for organizations (not for profit or otherwise).
The suffix ".net" is generally for network or machine based industries but also for commercial ventures.
The suffix ".edu" is exclusively used for educational institutions.
